Yeti Car Kit - Cable (cut / reconnect)

Hi

I want to install the yeti car kit in my VW T5. There is nothing more than a small place to push through the cable. unfortunately the connector is bigger, so i need to drill or to cut the cable and reassemble it afterwards. question: is that possible? anybody else did this?
