Can you use a gasoline generator to re-charge or top-off the charge on a Yeti PRO4000?

Wondering — in the case of a prolonged power outage and questionable solar input — if you could plug a Yeti PRO4000 into a gasoline generator to re-charge or top-off the charge? What sized generator would be recommended to provide re-charge power to the PRO4000? Thanks

    Hi @Rick,

You can charge the Yeti Pro 4000 from a gas generator. The size really depends on how fast you want to charge the Yeti. The Yeti can input a max of 1800W through the AC charging cable. So a 2000W gas generator should be able to handle this.

What about charging from a generator while the 115v output is also running? I am specifically wondering whether the Yeti 4000 can be used to augment the output of a small generator? I have a honda 1000i generator (800w continuous) that I like because its very quiet. But I just got a camper with an air conditioner, and my generator is too small to power the air conditioner.

If I plug the Yeti 4000 into the generator, and the camper into the Yeti, my hope is that the Yeti will slowly charge when the AC compressor is not running and the AC load is lower than the generator input, and slowly discharge when the AC compressor is running and the load is higher than the generator input.

Other brands of power bank cannot do this - simultaneous charging and 115v output is only possible when charging from solar, but not when charging from a generator.
