Can I use Yeti Pro/Haven 10 for power even when grid power is available?

I understand that the Yeti Pro with Haven 10 can be used to automatically switch to Yeti power when the power from the grid goes out. But I'm really curious to know if I can configure it to use power from the Yeti even when grid power is available?

The use case here is just to offset some of my grid power usage and run part of my home on clean solar generated/stored electricity.

    Hi @scottnichol67,

You can use it this way but that would require the Yeti to be off 120V input and charging via solar instead. You would then shut the circuits on your electrical panel off (the ones that are connected to the Haven 10) and turn the Haven 10 to generator.

Keep in mind that this will cycle the battery instead of using grid power. It is very possible that this will shorten the lifespan of the battery.

You might try using a smart plug to control when the yeti can charge from AC, or manually control, in conjunction with the Haven 10 circuits set to be powered from the yeti. I've had success doing this to store and use excess solar generated from my grid tie rooftop solar

I recently had a solar system with Enphase battery backup installed on my house. I have the Haven 10 plugged into the PRO 4000 as well, but haven’t used the yeti until I get some clarification. If I shut off the breakers (garage panel) to the circuits tied into the Haven 10, I can still use the Haven 10 to supply power safely from the yeti? If I keep them in the on position and set them all to “yeti” on the Haven 10, the yeti won’t see the outage because of the Enphase batteries supplying power is what I am assuming. Either I would have to turn the outside garage panel breaker off or only turn off the garage panel breakers that are tied into the Haven 10? I want to make sure that I’m not feeding electricity from the Enphase batteries and electricity from the yeti at the same time to the same circuits. And a caveat…I am barely electrically inclined 🤣. Was thinking though, if I have the yeti charging from a standard plug and powered by my panels in the daytime, could I shut the breakers off on the garage panel and set the ones assigned to the yeti to the “yeti” position? Would this charge the yeti during the day while the yeti safely powers the circuits assigned to it? Only other thing I could think off.
