1500X Firmware Update not completing - breaks Yeti
I initiated a firmware update using the iPhone app. According to the app, the Yeti has been updated to version 1.8.9. Seems odd, as I believe the latest version is 1.8.8.
On the Yeti itself, it keeps flashing "upd", as if the firmware was not applied.
I've followed the steps [here](https://github.com/GoalZero26503/yeti-wifi-public/wiki/Yeti-1500X-3000X-6000X-Button-Guide#reset) to "Resolve an Incomplete Update", but it does not fix it. I've tried all the types of resets (Soft, Factory, Battery Disconnect), and none of them fixes this.
Edit: Also, every hour or so, the Yeti will automatically attempt to reinstall the update, going into the screen shown below. However, the status does not ever go to 100%. Usually it stays at 3% for about a couple minutes before it seemingly quits and goes back to the main screen with the "upd" still flashing. When it does this, the unit effectively turns off! See the "USB" light is now off in the image below. This is rendering the Yeti effectively useless, as it won't stay on for more than an hour or so.

Same exact problem, down to every detail, except with a 6000X instead of a 1500X.

Same here. I have tried all the resets also as well as “resolve incomplete update” and am going through the same issue with app saying 1.8.9 then flipping into 1.8.8 when the Yeti tries to update (again). Every time it attempts an update it turns off any sections I have on. I have restarted my WiFi, changed to a different WiFi with the same inadequate results.
Anyone know how to cancel the update and go back to 1.8.8?

Mine managed to get to 23% FWIW, but never any further.

I have the same issue with my 3000X - seems to be stuck in the firmware update process. Looking at the Firmware version it states that it is "In Progress - 23%", which is what it has been showing now for almost 24 hours. I have 2 other GZ units and I will not attempt a firmware update on them until this issue gets resolved.

Hi folks, sorry you're having issues with the latest update. I can try to help support those of you experiencing this issue. Would anyone mind sharing their device id from the device settings in the app so I can take a look at some of the backend data?
Also as a tip – while not necessarily ideal for all use cases, if you need to use a port for the Yeti for an extended period while it's in this state, you can turn the wifi off and it will not automatically try to resolve the update. -
One of my device ID’s is [removed].
It’s happening with all my Yetis (all my 6000X, all my 3000X, 1500X). If you need more device IDs let me know.
Is there a way to turn off the WiFi for the individual Yeti? I assume I would just unpair each one of them from the app. Is that correct? -
@Sarah Thank you for sharing. Just one was helpful enough. I also found some support requests through the app from other users and was able to see some consistent error codes. This led me to find that there were issues with downloading one of the firmware images during the update which affected all Yeti X models.
Is there a way to turn off the WiFi for the individual Yeti?
Just a basic (short) press of the Wifi button on the Yeti will turn off the wifi for just that Yeti. The unit will not work with the app in this state of course, but you'd at least get the basic uses of the Yeti as a power station.

NOTICE TO ALL
There was an issue with file permissions in the cloud which led to Yetis not being able to download needed files for the update to complete. This affected all Yeti 1500X/3000X/6000X models.
This issue has been addressed as of 4:08PM (Mountain Time).
Please update on this thread if you see the issue getting resolved or if you're still having issues.
TIP
You can get the Yeti to retry the update by briefly turning the Yeti's wifi off (short press of the wifi button under the lid). And turning the wifi on again. The Yeti should reconnect to the network and retry the update. Or you can wait for the Yeti to automatically attempt to resolve the update on its own.
Thanks everyone for the posts! I wouldn't have found the issue without the community's support 🙏. -
@Hackerman™ The fix seems to have worked for me. I triggered an update by pressing and holding the WiFi button twice for 4sec, waiting 10s between presses. This time the updater percentage went all the way up to 100%.
For others who do this, note that at around the 6% mark (I think), my Yeti's screen went completely blank for about 30secs, after which it sounded like it rebooted - fans ramping up to 100% then back down - and then the screen came back on and continued the updater % indicator up to 100%.
Thanks for the quick turnaround on this issue. Didn't expect a response this quickly, let alone an actual solution, and on the weekend at that. Thank you.

Some of mine are also updating in a similar fashion. A couple of my Yeti’s are no longer flashing UpD but I they didn’t go through the download process after I reconnected to WiFi. App was already saying 1.8.9. Is there a way to check the firmware using the buttons? Thank you so much for your quick and precise help today!

@Hackerman™ thanks for the button guide! As a follow up, all my Yetis updated. So some must’ve auto-updated before I got to them to manually trigger it (even though I thought I didn’t hear them go through the associated beeping). You guys are the best!

OK, I tried the WiFi reset approach and after 1 hour my unit is still stuck at the 23% level as before. Is there something else I can try? My device ID is yetic44f3365bfc5.

@MendoMan I had to use the github instructions for "Resolve an Incomplete Update" (see top post by OP) to get some of my Yetis to reattempt the firmware update. For one of them I instead had to unpair from the app then re-add it to the app. Once it came back online after pairing via cloud connect it updated and completed

It looks like my Yeti 3000x finally finished the update after resetting the WiFi several times. Enfin!
