Multiple MP120 extension cables?

Hello,

I just picked up a V3 vehicle integration kit for my 1500x. I keep the 1500x in my camp trailer and the 12 foot MP120 cable isn’t long enough to reach it from my vehicle battery :(.

Can I safely link multiple MP120 cables together? I see the MP120 cable is 6 gauge whereas the older EC8 cables were 8 gauge, so I’m wondering if this may work.

What are my options? I suspect this is a very common challenge.

Best,

Mark

    Hello @Palmermc ,

You are probably fine however it is likely that you will see some noticeable line loss. This was one of the main reasons we do not recommend the chaining, not just the gauge. If the loss is not noticeable or is low enough you can live without it, go for it.

One thing you could do instead is make a customer length cable with the MP120 connections. It is a common industry connection, so it should be easy to find. If you want the "brand name" version (tissue vs Kleenex), it would be an Anderson SB120 connetion.

Thanks. So no risk of melting or fire if I connect 2 of these cables between my battery and 1500x? Just an efficiency hit?

    I greatly appreciate the feedback!
