Yeti 3000x only charges with USB-C
I have two Goal Zero yetis 3000x. I love my first Goal Zero yeti so much I bought a second one. Why doing firmware updates on my units, one stop charging after a couple hours. I don’t remember the firmware update number, but I know it was prior to firmware update 1.8.8. Once I received a new update, it started charging again and unfortunately stopped after a few hours. I called in to technical support and the person on the phone said it’s possible that there is a bad chip on the control board in the front of the unit. Is there a possible chance of getting a replacement board for it? The only way I can get it to charge now is to use the input port USB-C, but it takes quite a bit of time to charge with this port.

My Yeti 1500x has the same situation which now can only charge 1500x through the USB C port. After I took apart 1500x and diagnosed the 12v 50a power board is bad. I wish there is a way to buy the internal component replacement part.

how did you determine it was the 50a circuit board

The design inside Yeti is simple, the power board, the inverter board and front panel board. Both 8mm and Anderson pole input go to power board input, and output is connected to the battery, inverter board, and the expansion connector under lid hidden cover all together. Disconnect the battery from the bottom, plug in 8mm power, and use multi meter to measure expansion connector, if no voltage, the power board is dead. Plug in your USB C power, your display should come on, measure the hidden connector again and this time you should read 12v.
I actually dissemble the power board and simply trace the voltage drop from input, it is not working

I just picked up a MPPT module which is not designed for 1500X, it won't detect as accessory, but it is charging I am able to go back faster charging through MPPT module now.

I also picked up a MPPT module, my 3000x does not detect it. Periodically my unit will start charging after sitting for days. It stops charging after about 4 hours. I am thinking possibly shutting down due to some type of heat issue. It also starts after a firmware update, which must reset the board.

Hello @Ring ,
We do not sell replacement parts, unfortunately. We do have Open Box/Refurbished 3000x's available on our website for 1299 USD which is around the repair cost for battery replacement that we used to have as an option until the 3000x was discontinued and replaced by the 4000 Pro.
