Sherpa 100AC keeps shutting down

Hi,

I purchased a Sherpa 100AC in 2020 and have been using it reliably to charge my MacBook Pro laptop. However, today I encountered a problem for the first time. When attempting to charge my MacBook Pro with the Sherpa 100AC, the device shuts down after approximately one minute.

Additionally, the power button becomes unresponsive, and the only way to turn the device back on is by plugging it into an outlet. Once connected, the device powers on and displays a charge level of around 70%.

Is there a known solution or any troubleshooting steps I can follow to resolve this issue? The device appears to be fully charged, but it’s not functioning as expected.

    Hello @michelgk ,

    It is likely the battery is starting to wear out due to age and use. You can try resetting the unit by turning it on then holding the power button down for about 10-15 seconds. You will see the word "Reset" appear on the screen with squares that line up then returns to the regular screen. Then let go. See if that makes a difference to the behavior or not.

    @GoalZeroAdmin,

    I tried resetting a few times and charging it full a few more times, but it still shuts down even though shows its 40% full. Is there any way to fix this?

    Now, it shuts down immediately at 40% battery! Also, instead of the Sherpa charging my laptop when connected, sometimes the laptop starts charging the Sherpa. It continues doing that until I reset by unplugging and plugging it back in (which then results in immediate shut down).
