1400 always shows 100% charge

My 1400 recently started having a display problem. The display always shows it's 100% charged, when I know that's not true. I've tried a soft reset, and updated the firmware.
Example: With no input, and a lamp plugged in, I can see that the Watt Hours output since the last reset is 780 watt hours, it shows 7.8 hours in "time to empty", but the info display still shows 100% charged.
As long as time-to-empty continues to provide some status it's workable, but I'd love to get the charge percentage to work again. Any ideas?
