Goal Zero Tank Expansion Battery Hack
I have added a Victron Smart Battery Protect to the tank 12v 100ah AGM Battery. Goal Zero told me that the AGM battery in the tank could be drained to zero no problem. If you are running devices off the Yeti and the demand is there the Yeti will run the Tank and the Yeti all the way down to 0. You can set a cutoff voltage for the Yeti.
It seems that the general consensus is not to run a battery down to 0 as it will shorten the life and eventually prevent the battery from being able to charge to 100%
The Victron Smart Battery Protect will cut off the Tank from charging the Yeti thus protecting the AGM battery. You can set the cutoff and cuton voltage's. I have it set at 11.5v cutoff.
It was easy enough to do and seems to be working great. I have the Tank and Yeti 1500x being charged off solar and the system is running a small space heater @ 200 watts. Will let it run for days now and see how it works.
