Charging a 1500x From a DC-DC Converter

Options

I tried to charge my 1500x with an Orion DC-DC converter. It's the 12->24volt 15amp smart non-isolated model. I am connecting the output of the converter to the Anderson Powerpole input on the 1500x. I believe what's happening is the MPPT function of the 1500x is lower its impedance (as MPPTs do) to find the power sweet spot. This is causing the converter output to over-current and it lowers its voltage to protect itself. I end up with the converter putting out 16.2 volt and 280 watts, which is about 17 amps and over the rated output. I can set the output voltage of the converter form 17 to 30volts, I've tried the full range and get the same results.

Is there anyway to turn off the MPPT function of 1500x or at least tune it to limit the range of impedance it tests?
