Connecting/disconnecting 8mm cords is very difficult, especially when cold. Any tips/hacks?

This is very confusing. When I plug my 8mm power supply into my 500x it is so easy. Can you go into more detail on why this is so hard for you?

If you are talking about connecting the 8mm into the extension cord for it, I found that wrapping a hand warmer packet warms it up enough to unplug, or plug. Writing from VT
