Advice connecting Nomad 200 panel to deep cycle 12v battery

Hello! I wondering if I can charge my travel trailer 2 lead battery system with a Nomad 200 through my 110v shore power or DC ZAMP connection with a Sherpa or Yeti in-between as the controller vs just buying a charge controller? So I'm guessing that the panel would charge the storage device which would then change/feed the trailer. Any drawbacks or concerns? Suggestions on the storage device? Thank you!

    Hi @OnThePath,

This would be an inefficient way of charging your trailer batteries. You will lose power from the panels to the Yeti/Sherpa (which is normal) and then from the Yeti/Sherpa to the external batteries.

It would be best to go from the Nomad 200 directly to the lead acid batteries to get the best efficiency.

If you do decide to use a Yeti/Sherpa in between, you will want to use a Yeti power station over the Sherpa. The size of the lead acid batteries will determine the size of the Yeti power station you need.
