HowTo get 1500X in towed camper charged from car while driving?

We want to have our 1500X in our camper while towing and have it charged from our car. How can this be done? can it be charged off the power from the existing 7 pin trailer harness that connects to the trailer's lights and ebrakes? How do integrate the YETILINK VEHICLE INTEGRATION KIT into that config ...... or do we just need to have the 1500X inside the vehicle connected to the YETILINK VEHICLE INTEGRATION KIT?

thanks for any input or guidance!!

    Hi @FARGOVT,

    The Yeti 1500X and Yeti link will have to be inside the vehicle in order for it to work. Unfortunately, the 7 pin connection does not provide enough power to work with the Link. The link will need to be connected to the vehicle battery.

    Couldn't the vehicle integration kit wiring be extended as a seperate trailer hookup??

    Hi @Cali_Electro_Dad,

    This could be possible but you would need to get the EC8 extension cable custom made to the length needed. This is not something we do. You may need to consult a professional to get it extended properly.

    @Cali_Electro_Dad,

    The Link can draw very high DC current.

    The 12 ft. EC8 extension cable is 8AWG is rated for up to 80A. If you run a custom extension longer than the one we sell, you may experience a higher current due to the voltage drop at those lengths while the link tries to draw up to its max input power of 750W. If the current gets to high you risk melting wire insulation and making connectors soft at the lower end and causing a fire, burns and permanent damage to things on the upper end. Make sure you snug up all connections.

    I would consult an electrician or custom vehicle retro-fitter for guidance on abiding by electrical codes or to make sure the job is done safely or if it should be done at all.
