Camp Ad hoc network

Has anyone tried setting up an ad hoc (no internet) network to control their Yeti? A small Wi-Fi router that doesn’t use much power is easy to find

    Hi @Laz7,

There are 2 modes to connect to WiFi enabled Yetis. Anywhere and Direct.

    • If your Yeti can see a WiFi router that does have internet connection you can use Anywhere Connect mode.
    • In off-grid situations Direct Connect mode can be used to have a Smart Phone communicate with the Yeti directly and does not need the internet to work!

If you have good coverage from a mobile hotspot ( some overlanders have added a boosting directional antenna ) or something like Starlink's RV plan or any other other portable source of internet connection with WiFi, you can use that to get Anywhere Connect to work with a Yeti outdoors.
