Did I purchase too small a unit?

Hi,

I bought the 500 portable charging station and outside my phone and iPad it couldn't charge my electric tea kettle or electric griddle. It claims to be able to charge a small refrigerator. Is this too small a unit?

    Hi @Triton,

The Yeti 500X has a max output of 300W through the AC inverter. Normally electric tea kettles and electric griddles require more power than that (typically above 800W). We suggest checking the power requirements for those two items to see if any of our power stations are able to handle that power output. More than likely the Yeti 1000X or larger will be able to handle them.

Yes, you will need at least a Yeti 1000X to power any small appliances such as electric tea kettles, coffee makers (including single cup), and others. If you look around your tea kettle you should find a label which will specify the required wattage for the device (as Admin stated, these are often 800w or more depending on its functionality.)
