Will Yeti completely drain expansion tank battery to charge itself?
I have a Yeti 3000 with 2 tank expansion batteries. I'm wondering what happens if I have a heater running overnight in my van and the Yeti drains the tanks to keep itself charged (I think that's what it does?). If it's unattended (I'm asleep), will it empty them completely and so impair the life of the tank batteries or does it manage the drain on the tank battery to maintain it's life (i.e. stopping at 50% or 20% or 10% remaining)?

Hi @dal1808,
The Yeti 3000 will drain the tanks to 0% if the Yeti requires the power. Keep in mind that we use deep cycle lead acid batteries in the tanks, so draining them to 0 will not damage them. We still don't suggest doing it often but if it happens every one in a while, the internal batteries of the tanks will continue working like normal and will not effect the life of the battery.

Another option is 12V heat blankets. They may be able to keep heat close to you and use less power (about 120W instead of 1200W).

Thanks 🙏. I guess I'm realizing the difference between a system designed as an emergency backup and one designed to provide continuous power 🙁. Looks like your newer systems offer more functionality as a continuous power supply. Maybe one of those is in my future. In the meantime I will find a way to adjust my use of the Yeti and Tank batteries to avoid draining them constantly 👍.

Others have experimented with swapping out LFP batteries connected to the Yeti X Link for this very reason.
